A member of this group recently recommended TSG Heating and Air (703-356-1000). When I went to install a whole house/furnace humidifier last week, I had the chance to do a comparison with other HVAC companies. In my case, TSG beat 5 other companies both by giving a reasonable estimate, by TSG's willingness to do a smaller size job, and keeping to their estimate. I had to bug 4 bigger companies just to get an estimate, and they just didn't seem to need a new customer (!). I agree with the other member that Jim S of TSG is quite experienced and fair.

By the way, I can also recommend the new Honeywell TrueSteam whole house humidifier that I got. It is indeed better/more healthful technology and not wasteful of water like the evaporative types that have been more typical, though it is more expensive. Having a humidifier makes our house (and our sinuses) much more comfortable.
