HVAC Technician - You decide to use or not

Someone in our community recommended Mr. Peng for Heating/AC service, so I used him to check up my heat pump. The service was on a weekend (so he does NOT need to deal with his employer). Here are what I got:

Service call - $60 (very good price)
Freon (few ounces) - $20. Per him, my heat pump could still work normally w/o adding freon.
Contactor replacement (White-Rodgers, RBM type 122, 90-244) - $65, which he said would cost me $120 if I had gone through his employer. Later on I found it just worth few dollars to less than $20 on many web sites.

I have paid to share this with you all

Mr. Peng Guoyou was recommended to me to fix a heating problem I had with my HVAC system. Called him in the morning, showed up at night. Very quick to respond. Found out the circuit board (White-Rogers) needed to be replaced.

Charged me $90 for service which involved two trips, and indicated it would be $160 if through his company. Offered me 15% off the list price he claimed that his company would charge me, which came to $495. Checked online, the circuit board cost $235 including shipping.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I have paid to share this with you all.
